DIY Mini Christmas Wreaths from the Target Dollar Spot

Christmas Wreath Chair Backs

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!  Christmas decorating season is officially here!  This is seriously the most wonderful, magical time of year.  I just LOVE decorating our home for the holidays.  If I could pull it off, every single room in our house would be decorated.  I’m not quite at that expert level yet… but maybe one day!

I was looking to incorporate more Christmas decor into our kitchen, and I loved the idea of tying wreaths onto all the backs of our chairs.  Real boxwood wreaths can be a bit pricey, so for my fellow pals on a budget, this DIY project is just for you.

Here’s what you’ll need to create DIY Mini Christmas Wreaths…

DIY Boxwood Wreaths

Materials

  • Wired Boxwood Garland –  I purchased mine from Target Dollar Spot but here’s a similar option from Amazon
  • Ribbon of your choice
  • Scissors

Target DIY wreaths

Instructions

1.  Determine the desired size of your wreaths.  I made mine about 6 inches in diameter.  Then wrap your garland around 3-4 times, and cut off your length.

2.  Make your first circle your desired size, and then twist the end around a few times to secure.  You should have a circle with a long tail.

3.  Take the tail, and loop it through the circle.  Repeat this until you only have a few inches left on the tail.  Then just twist it under a few times to secure.  By looping the strands together, you’ll get a more realistic, cohesive look for your wreaths.  The finished product should look like this.

4.  Next you’re ready for the bow!  Depending on where you choose to use your boxwood wreaths, you can tie on the bow however you’d like.  Since I was using these specifically for the backs of our chairs, I cut off about 15 inches of ribbon.  Then I took the ribbon and looped it through the top of the chair and added the wreath on top.

Pro tip: Always cut your ribbon on an angle to give your bow a more professional finish!

5.  To finish it off, tie a simple bow to the top of the wreath.  If you’re not sure how, this is the method I use to tie a perfect bow every time.  So easy!

And that’s it!  This honestly has to be one of the easiest DIY projects I’ve done.  With little effort, you can incorporate some small boxwood wreaths into any room that make a big impact.  You could also add these wreaths to kitchen cabinets, create a feature wall with wreaths of different sizes or even accents within a tray or around the base of a candle.  The possibilities are endless!

I hope you enjoyed these DIY Mini Christmas Wreaths from the Target Dollar Spot.

What a cool idea! Sadly, we don’t have Target here in Canada anymore. But I’ll definitely be on the lookout for the boxwood garland elsewhere.
